Plaintiff Grant Casserly, a recruiter for staffing company Sapphire Technologies, LP, which was doing business as Randstad, claimed that he and other similarly-situated employees at Randstad did not receive proper overtime pay or meal periods due to them being misclassified. Casserly, on behalf of himself and were misclassified and all others similarly situated, brought a class action against several businesses doing business as Randstad, including Randstad US LP, Randstad Horizons LP, Randstad Inhouse Services LP, Accountants International LP, B2B Workforce LP, Clinical One, Compliance LP, DB Concepts, Delta Pharma LP, Human Resources International, Locum Medical Group, OPIS, Placement Pros LP, Randstad Managed Services, Randstad Professionals US LP, Sapphire Technologies LP, Think Resources LP and Randstad General Partner US LLC. The Randstad companies contended that the proposed class members were properly classified as exempt employees and that they had been compensated for all wages owed. The Randstad companies also denied each of the allegations asserted by the lead plaintiff and contended that this action was not suitable for class treatment because individual questions predominated., The class of approximately 650 members sought recovery of unspecified damages for money owed for unpaid overtime and meal periods.
