FACTS
On Jan. 9, 2012, plaintiff Anafe Robinson, 45, a community college administrator, was proceeding along Winnetka Avenue in Woodland Hills when she entered the intersection with Oxnard Street and was involved with a collision with a car driven by Eileen Natale, who was approaching in the opposite direction and had attempted a left turn in front of Robinson’s vehicle. Robinson incurred a wrist fracture as a result of the accident. Robinson sued Natale, alleging that the defendant was negligent for making an improper left turn without regard to other traffic entering the intersection. Natale argued that Robinson was negligent., Robinson was taken by ambulance to an emergency room at a local hospital, where she was diagnosed with a fracture of her right, dominant wrist. She also claimed she suffered an airbag burn. Robinson ultimately underwent open reduction surgery with the insertion of hardware. Robinson claimed scarring from the surgery and residual pain in her wrist. She also claimed that she never recovered the full range of motion of her wrist and that the scaring will require future treatment by a plastic surgeon. Defense counsel argued that Robinson was treated well and had healed well.
