FACTS
On Aug. 5, 2010, plaintiff Patricia Sancinito, 60, a severely disabled patient who suffered from the advanced stages of multiple sclerosis, was a resident and patient at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center located in San Francisco. She claimed that as she was being transported by a nurse’s assistant from her wheelchair to the bed, she was dropped and sustained resulting . Sancinito sued the employees of licensed nurses’ assistant, Laguna Honda Hospital; and the hospital’s owner, the city and county of San Francisco. She alleged the defendants were negligent for inadequate staffing, carelessly maintained medical services and/or failing to provide medical services, and for the negligent transport of Sancinito by the nurse’s assistant., Sancinito suffered to her head, neck and shoulder, as well as a fracture of her femur. Sancinito sought recovery of general damages and damages for her medical expenses.
