FACTS
In late 2017, the plaintiffs, four third-grade male students, claimed that they were sexually abused by a female classmate at Cyrus J. Morris Elementary School, in Walnut. They claimed that the abuse occurred while they were in class with their teacher, Shayleen Ojeda, present and that the abuse occurred over the course of several months without the teacher noticing until early 2018. The boys, acting through guardians ad litem, sued Ojeda; the school’s operator, Walnut Valley Unified School District; and the school’s principal, Shehzad Bhojani. The lawsuit alleged that the defendants were negligent in their supervision of the students. The school district admitted liability., The four third-grade boys were sexually abused several times from late 2017 until early 2018. They each claimed they suffered psychological as a result of the events. The plaintiffs sought recovery of damages for their emotional pain and suffering.
