FACTS
In June 2014, plaintiff Ablahad Rofa began work as a service truck driver for a San Diego-based towing company, Advantage Towing Co. A month later, in July 2014, plaintiff Christopher Grace began work as a tow truck driver for Advantage Towing, and a year later, in July 2015, plaintiff Ivan Jebo began work as a service truck driver for the company. Grace ultimately stopped working for Advantage Towing in March 2015, and Rofa and Jebo both stopped working for the company in October 2015. However, Rofa, Grace and Jebo all claimed that they were not paid the appropriate rates during their time working for Advantage Towing. Rofa, Grace, and Jebo sued Advantage Towing Co., alleging that the company’s actions constituted violations of the California Labor Code. Specifically, they claimed that Advantage Towing failed to pay them minimum wage or for the overtime hours worked, as required by law. Defense counsel denied all of the plaintiffs’ allegations., Rofa, Grace, and Jebo sought recovery of compensatory damages for their respective unpaid wages that they were allegedly owed.
